Football Club Insurance

Having specialist sports liability insurance in place to protect the financial viability of a football club is essential, especially within an increasingly litigious society. There a number of scenarios where a claim may fall back on a football club. The defence costs and legal fees required to protect against such claims can be extremely costly, without adequate football club insurance you will be liable to pay them.

Sports Liability Protection

Regardless of whether your team is professional, semi professional or just a Sunday league team at DareDirect our policies are written on a bespoke basis to suit your own clubs circumstances. Each football club insurance policy includes up to £10m worth of indemnity for protection against 3rd party claims including the following:-

- Accidental injury to a third party, including spectators
- Injuries to club members or employees
- Accidental damage to third party property
- Damage to leased, hired or rented premises

For football clubs fortunate enough to own their own stadium, pitch and changing facilities further protection in the form of building and contents cover will need to be considered. As well as this there is also the possibility that you will need employer's liability to protect your club against claims made by employees.

Building & Contents cover

If your football club has its own changing rooms or clubhouse facilities you will need to protect these assets in the event of damage as a result of perils such as fire, flood or vandalism. The clubhouse in particular is often the most valuable commodity of any football club; it may have a bar or lounge facilities for directors, players and sponsors to have a social drink after the game. The value of any memorabilia or silverware located in the clubhouse will need to be listed as part of the contents element of the policy. The same applies for electrical equipment such as plasma screens, computers or sound systems. In addition there may also be player's gymnasium and physiotherapy rooms in which specialist equipment is housed. All of these assets add value and therefore need to be adequately protected with specialist football club insurance.

Employers Liability

Any employees of a football club will need to be protected by law under an employer's liability section. This includes staff working in a full or part time capacity. For example you may have 1 or 2 employees working for a couple of hours in a burger van on match days or casual bar staff working in the clubhouse. Larger clubs may employ full time staff members such as physios or coaches.
At DareDirect we can include employer's liability with up to £10m level of indemnity within our football club insurance.
